Primary Purpose

The Alumni Intern will manage the young alumni program including planning and coordinating off-campus young alumni gatherings and on-campus events including Homecoming and Reunion Weekend; create and produce the Young Alumni Newsletter.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

  • Work with assistant director for chapters and region events to plan and coordinate events that will appeal to younger alumni.
  • With the help of the assistant director, identify and engage young alumni volunteers in chapter areas.
  • Identify and engage broad based leadership in the senior class. Direct the social activities of the Senior Committee.
  • Coordinate Senior Week activities.
  • Assist with the Senior Class Gift program.
  • Establish programs to educate current students about future roles as alumni; liaising with campus offices (CCAL, CSO) and student volunteers.
  • Oversees the Alumni on-line presence including Alumni Web pages, Middlebury social networking groups, on-line events calendar and on-line community ongoing efforts.
  • Supervise student employees including interviewing and hiring candidates; maintaining student work schedule; compiling projects; and assessing student performance.
  • In coordination with the Alumni and Parent Programs associate, creates a training plan and schedule for new student employees.
  • Collaborate with the Young Alumni liaison for the Middlebury College Alumni Association, including tracking and analyzing data and preparing reports.
  • Oversee student involvement with the MCAA.
  • Assist in staffing of alumni events including Alumni College, Alumni Leadership Conference, Fall Family Weekend, Alumni Golf Tournament, Homecoming and Reunion.
  • Coordinate the Student Hosts program over Reunion weekend, including hiring and training student hosts.

Education & Training

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area, preferably from Middlebury.

Experience

Knowledge

Computer skills and excellent organization, oral and written communication. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once. Must have the ability to problem-solve and meet deadlines and goals with limited oversight.

Other

Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission. Evening and weekend work required. Customer service skills are essential.
