Primary Purpose

Responsible for overseeing the daily clothing and gift operations of the Bookstore. Responsible for merchandising clothing and gift items, and coordinating retail events.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

*Assists customers as needed.

Ensures appropriate levels of customer service by being the primary contact person for customers if they have a question, special order, have a complaint, a suggestion, or a return.

*Responsible for coordinating the work of all employees assigned to retail tasks. Under direction of the Assistant Manager, responsible for hiring, training, supervising (retail), and approving the time of all students.

*Rings up customers at the cash register.

*Opens and closes the store.

*Responsible for daily cash-up and safe count.

*Responsible for keeping the retail display areas arranged and stocked with clothing, cards, and gift items. Advises Operations Coordinator when something needs to be ordered. Working with Operations Coordinator, selects and orders new clothing and giftware for all Bookstore operations.

Coordinates and develops Bookstore presence at campus-wide events.

*Responsible for receiving and checking in clothing, cards, and giftware.

*Responsible for entering department charges.

Assists fellow workers as needed.

Assists with inputting pricing information into POS so items scan at register.

Assists with year end inventory

At the request of the Bookstore Manager, attend regional trade shows with Operations Coordinator to take classes and purchase merchandise that fits within Bookstore merchandising plan.

Other duties as assigned.

Education & Training

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

Previous retail experience preferred. Familiarity with computers. Working knowledge of MS Word/Excel software helpful.

Knowledge

Strong math skills necessary.

Other

The ability to interact appropriately with all people is important. The ability to lift 50 lbs frequently. Highly responsible. Detail oriented. Ability to work well with people in a fast-paced environment required.
