Primary Purpose |

Assists the Assistant Manager in everything related to books for all Middlebury schools and programs.
|
Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- Assists customers as needed.
- Coordinates receiving, stocking and shipping for textbooks including buyback.
- Works with Assistant manager to assure timely and accurate availability of text books and special orders
- Creates and maintains training and procedure documentation.
- Responsible for coordinating the tasks of employees assigned to work with Text Coordinator.
Receiving:
- Inspects shipments for accuracy and quality, resolves discrepancies with vendors
- Orders supplies for book processing and reuses boxes and packing materials
- Manages workflow and space of receiving team to maintain efficiency and adjust to changing priorities
- Works with faculty to determine appropriateness of various editions of textbooks
- Inputs book and invoice data on computer.
- Prints barcodes if required.
- Ensures used and new books are a complete match.
- Trains and oversees student workers during peak receiving times.
- Watches international shipments carefully for pricing, returns status and substitutes for the titles ordered.
- Corrects shipping mistakes by working with publishers and Assistant Manager.
- Verifies that all books scan at the register before the start of classes and that the price scanned matches the invoiced price.
- Assists students finding books in the text annex. Assists with student orders for sold out titles and notifies them when the book arrives.
Buyback:
- Sets up and assists with buyback operations and workstations
- Coordinates with LIS and software vendor to load back up program
- Trains and directs work of temporary staff and students in buying, sorting and marking books
- Coordinates with facilities services to survey all discarded books for value
- Resolves problems with computer system and patrons
Returns:
- Inventories all unsold books, buyback books generates computer based publisher worksheets, sorts books by vendor/publisher, boxes and ships books back to vendor using the most cost effective shipping method and carrier or place in our inventory for resale.
- Manages various return deadlines for used and new books.
- Verifies computer has accurate data on quantity of books returned, pulled for future terms, or non-returnable titles.
- Works with Assistant Manager to ensure credits match returns.
- Annual Inventory: Ensures that all books are accounted for.
- Fills in during co-workers' absences, including running point-of-sale terminal.
- Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Education & Training |
|
High School diploma required; some college preferred.

Experience |
|
Retail, inventory management, and shipping experience required. College Bookstore experience preferred.

Other |
Computer literacy required. Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail a must. Ability to lift 75 pounds frequently.
