Publicizes the college’s athletic teams via the media and the Web. The director attends and staffs all home contests and is responsible for disseminating information from the contests to the media, and via the college’s Web site. The director also supplies this information to Middlebury’s opponents for use on their Web sites and by their local media.
Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date athletic website. This time-intensive endeavor requires daily attention with an emphasis on posting the latest scores.
Responsible for all aspects of maintaining and updating the photography archives. Annual head shots, team pictures and action shots are taken and added to the archives each year.
Maintains professional and strong relationships with the local media. Calls on them to suggest feature stories and ideas to gain more publicity for the Department of Athletics.
Writes a weekly press release that is mailed to each student-athlete’s hometown when he/she is mentioned in the piece. Hometown releases are also completed when an athlete earns specials awards or recognition.
Writes a weekly electronic newsletter, SportsNotes, that summarizes the contests from the previous week, and sends it to more than 3,000 subscribers who are members of the faculty, staff, students, media, alumni, and the public.
Supervises and oversees student-workers who staff home games as well as work regular weekly office hours.
Supervises and coordinates publication of football program on an annual basis.
Creates game programs for each home contest where they are deemed necessary. Maintains up-to-date rosters, results and statistics for each of Middlebury’s 30 varsity athletic teams.
Maintains athletic archive.
