Primary Purpose

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

*Project manages college publications: 


Serves as liaison with campus departments regarding production of publications.


Creates production schedules in consultation with publications staff, ensuring timely progress of project through all phases of production; maintains production folder for all projects.


Contracts with printing vendors and generates necessary purchase orders; oversees printing, delivery and billing.


Collects, collates, edits and formats material for College Directory, Course Catalog, Winter Term Catalog, New Faces.


Assists director of college communications with creating and monitoring of department budget.

*Project Manages Magazine:


Collaborates with editor and publications staff in envisioning and development of Magazine.


Communicates with writers, photographers (includes setting up photo shoots with senior designer) and artists as necessary to contract for services and ensure prompt billing.


Manages advertising program.


Serves as principal contact with Magazine printer, facilitating scheduling and on-time delivery of magazine.


Supervises details of Magazine distribution (mailing and on campus deliveries).


Assists Magazine editor with creating and monitoring Magazine budget and income (advertising revenues).


Places Magazine on Middlebury website.

Serves as a member of College Advancement team, including participating in major College events, such as reunion weekend.
Supervises student workers and interns on writing, editorial and clerical duties.

Education & Training

Bachelor's degree.

Experience

3-5 years of experiences in publishing field.

Knowledge

Quark, Web program, other publishing programs; editing skills.

Other

Ability to recognize and respect confidential issues; ability to work on several projects at one time; strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
