Primary Purpose

Responsible for all trust fund activity in the general ledger, as well as the disbursements to trust fund beneficiaries.  Maintains and provides reporting on all expendable and endowed gift accounts. 

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Records and verifies monthly activities of all trust accounts. 


Maintains data files and performs other necessary database management activities. 


Calculates quarterly payments to trust fund beneficiaries, prepares  vouchers and distributes payments. 


Acts as authorized signatory for all College checking and savings accounts. 


Responsible for domestic and international wire transfers. 


Proposes sale of investments to fund annuity payments. 


Performs calculations for fund close-outs upon the death of a beneficiary and prepares the necessary journal entries. 


Prepares year-end work papers for all trust funds. 


Prepares 1099R, 1099INT, and 1099DIV. 


Prepares annual fiduciary tax returns for trust funds (forms 5227, 1041, 1041A, and VT state returns) and reports to trust fund beneficiaries (K-1's). 


Analyzes and researches expendable and endowment funds and historical data and prepares reports for Trustees, College Advancement and other College departments. 


Performs accounting for restricted gifts and endowments. 


Acts as liaison with College Advancement to ensure accurate and timely gift reporting. 


Responsible for endowment income forecasting.
Responsible for year-end availing of the 34's expendable and 60's endowment accounts. 


Works with other department supervisors to set office policies and procedures. 


Monitors Nucleus Fund Report for VP for Administration and Treasurer. 


Prepares quarterly ATF Report.

Education & Training

Bachelor's degree required, with advanced accounting, auditing and management courses. 

Experience

5 years' previous experience in the field. 

Knowledge

Knowledge of general accounting and tax principles and financial standards for colleges or other not-for-profit environment required. Knowledge of gift processing procedures and regulations. 

Other

Must handle confidential information in a discreet manner.  Attention to detail is essential.  Ability to work well with others.
