Primary Purpose |
|
Delivers supplies and equipment for catered functions to various locations and assists in setup and breakdown of catered events. Is required to do what it takes to make Dining Events successful including dishwashing, bussing, plating food, bar set up, and checking room schedules for delivery times. Provides the physical communication link among all food service buildings.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
*Responsible for timely delivery of multiple events each day that have no management presence. Involves proper set-up, adherence to health codes, liaison for Dining Events Dept. and the guest.
*Maintains a tight delivery schedule among all the various food service locations on campus.
*Communicates constantly with the Catering Office for information on changes in events, and adjusts schedule as necessary.
*Responsible for delivery and control of alcohol for catered events.
*Assists, as time permits, in receiving area and other Dining Service areas, including but not limited to food preparation, food serving, bartending, and crowd control.
*Reacts quickly and appropriately to circumstances that arise during the planning and execution of catered events, such as site changes, last minute changes and unforeseen circumstances to accommodate guest needs.
*Receives incoming product.
*Transports and procures alcohol for events.
*Performs expeditor and roundsperson duties when they are not working.
*Responsible for the delivery of desserts and linen to Bread Loaf and other Dining Units.
*Sustains professional demeanor to represent Dining Events department while fulfilling a physically demanding job.
*Trains employees to drive the delivery truck.
*Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Education & Training |
|
Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Middlebury College driver’s license. High school diploma preferred.
|
Experience |
|
One year previous experience in driving a large delivery truck, and inventory procedures preferred.
|
Knowledge |
|
General knowledge of proper lifting techniques and safety procedures. Must be flexible and able to problem solve on site with regards to last-minute changes.
|
Other |
|
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the campus community, such as guests who order events, guests at events, faculty, staff, and various departments on campus. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions. Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 60 lbs. a few times each day. Must be able to push and pull up to 150 lbs. frequently. Requires frequent bending, twisting and overhead reaching. Must be able to walk frequently and stand for long periods of time. May require some overtime.
