Primary Purpose

Manages the Event office of Dining Services

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

* Participates as member of Dining Services’ management team in all facets of operations.

* Oversees and coordinates operation of all events.

*Manages/supervises staff of the event office and all events.

*Works closely with the Dining Services’ Executive Chef and Banquet Chef to develop menus.

*Manages the planning and on-site event flow of major/high profile functions.

*Gatekeeper for all events that take place on campus that includes any food and beverage needs – even if Middlebury College is not operating the event (licenses, room needs and insurance requirements).

*Point person/coordinator for all Dining Services team members at large events such as reunion.

*Oversee invoicing and accounts receivable for events.

*Participates as a member of the cross-department events team (with Facilities Services, Events Information Scheduling Office and others) to ensure smooth setup and operations of food related events.

*Liaison with community members (customers) to address concerns, needs and suggestions

*Ability to communicate and reconcile customer needs and operational needs

*Attends functions, as schedule permits, to ensure that procedures are being followed and standards maintained.

Performs special projects as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Education & Training

Bachelor's degree in Restaurant Management or equivalent experience.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in food services area.

Knowledge

Must have knowledge of operating computer equipment and related scheduling procedures.

Strong supervisory/leadership skills

Ability to work as part of a collaborative management team

Strong customer service skills and commitment

Computer literacy; office software and menu management software

Other

Must hold current Vermont Department of Liquor Control certification.
