Primary Purpose

Prepares proper quantity of scheduled menu items according to food production sheets. Ensures that food is properly and safely prepared, cooked and served.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

* Preps and cooks items at individual station according to meal schedule and food production sheets.

* Assists cook as necessary with other food preparation as instructed.

*Observes proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure fresh, deliverable product.

*Rotates inventory to maintain freshness.

* Cleans work areas, including counters, floors, dishes and related equipment and ensures they are in proper sanitary condition.

May deliver and set-up for catering functions, either at the dining location or for larger campus events.

Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Education & Training

High School diploma or equivalent experience required. Must have training in proper food preparation/storage methods and sanitary standards.

Experience

3-5 years of food preparation experience preferred.

Knowledge

Knowledge of meal/food preparation and cooking times, as well as safety/sanitation aspects of food service areas.

Other

Must by physically able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 50 lbs. several times a day. Must be able to push/pull up to 150 lbs. frequently. Requires long periods of time standing, and frequent bending, overhead reaching, and twisting motions.
