Primary Purpose

Coordinates and supervises maintenance repair, and installation of plumbing, heating, and electromechanical systems on campus building and facilities. Includes main campus, Breadloaf campus, and Snowbowl.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

*Receives plumbing and mechanical work requests and directs/ coordinates plumbing crew.

*Must be able to work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors and management.

*Understands Famis work order system and coordination with expedition.

*Coordination with other trades.

*Ensures adherence to safety, quality, and energy efficiency standards.

*Reports safety hazards.

*Maintains records of work loads, work orders, and requisitions.

*Supports call man schedule.

*Orders equipments and supplies as required.

*Maintain plumbing trade VMI.

*Recommends staffing needs, schedules staff, approves overtime and time off. All in consultation with supervisor.

*Evaluates staff, counsels and handles disciplinary procedures- all in consultation with supervisors.

*Resolves employee issues, supports management team, keeps morale high.

*Ensures plumbing/ propane repairs and installations comply with applicable codes.

*Installs and maintains propane gas systems.

*Maintenance and care of college pool.

*Ensures self and crew duties are performed in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Middlebury College and departmental policies, practices, and procedures.

*Performs associated Facilities Services maintenance work as requested; including but not limited to: Snow removal, event set-up and clean-up, truck loading and unloading, and grounds maintenance.

*Performs other responsibilities as required.

Education & Training

*High School Diploma or equivalent.
*Master plumbers license.
*LP Gas certification or ability to obtain.
*Middlebury College Foundations for Effective Supervision
  course or equivalent.

Experience

*5 years experience as master plumber.
*Employee performance management experience.
*LP gas systems and equipment.
*Steam distribution and equipment.

Knowledge

*Must be licensed master plumber.
*Must have knowledge of LP gas, refrigeration, electrical, 
  steam distribution, and water distribution system.

Other

Master plumbing license required. Current Propane certification or ability to obtain. Must be available for emergency maintenance calls on evenings and weekends according to rotational schedule. Ability to work Saturday and Sundays as part of a regular or rotating work shift. Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary. Must have driver's license and vehicle for transportation of self, tools, and procuring small materials. Must furnish own hand tools for plumbing/ mechanical work. Must be capable of moving and lifting heavy and/ or bulky equipment, with assistance.
