Primary Purpose |
The Manager of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Services provides leadership, planning, and day-to-day direction of Facilities Services electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and automotive/equipment maintenance functions for all campus buildings, facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
Responsibilities include:
Oversees the supervision of personnel including supervisors, team leaders, and staff members, which includes work allocation, training, performance evaluations, and problem resolution.
Generates, prioritizes and assigns work; checks work in progress.
Oversees and inspects the work of all managed staff. Reviews and approves daily timecards.
Counsels staff and handles disciplinary problems.
Completes performance evaluations for HVAC/Plumbing and Electrical supervisors, auto shop and welder(s).
Recommends staffing needs, schedules staff, and approves overtime and time off.
Coordinates interviews and hires all non-supervisory staff.
Assists Assistant Director with supervisory hiring process.
Ensures timely completion of jobs and smooth departmental operations.
Manages many disparate work area functions.
Manages and oversees job and safety training programs; reports safety hazards.
Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures.
Oversees equipment and vehicle maintenance programs and recommends annual purchases.
Manages contractors for on site work.
Helps establish and maintain inter-departmental relations with all departments and the College Community.
Must be able to work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors.
Performs other related responsibilities as requested.

Education & Training |
|
High School education or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field strongly preferred. Supervisory training desirable. Coursework, conference attendance, and related education experiences beneficial. Vocational training and/or apprenticeship for plumbing or electrical trades helpful.

Experience |
|
Five years of previous supervisory experience preferred, particularly in a fast-paced and/or multi-faceted environment. Broad based and fully developed management experience, with a demonstrated record in directing service, operations, and human resource functions.

Knowledge |
|
Extensive knowledge of plumbing, heating, electrical, refrigeration, propane, air-conditioning, auto/equipment mechanics preferred. Knowledge of management practices and principles, organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures as well as specific work area responsibilities.
|
Other |
Ability to resolve customer service complaints and concerns, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to implement, monitor, and maintain quality control standards. Ability to work independently and in a team environment while fostering a positive work environment. Computer skills required (maintenance management system, Excel, Word, email, building management system).
A strong commitment, dedication, organizational loyalty, and honesty are required. Demonstrated leadership in implementing change, while fostering a high level of teamwork, customer service, and technological advancement. Ability to address and make decisions while adhering to policies.
Must maintain a valid driver's license and a vehicle for transportation of self, tools and procuring small materials. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and be willing to respond (if available) to emergency and service calls that occur outside normal working hours. Must be a self-starter, able to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines. Must be available for emergency maintenance calls on evenings and weekends according to rotational schedule. Must be capable of moving and lifting heavy and/or bulky equipment, with assistance.
