Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- Manages the daily operations of the Parton Health Center, a 24-hour/7-day per week health care facility offering outpatient and infirmary services on the main campus and seasonalservices to the Bread Loaf campus.
- In collaboration with the Director, develops and implements Health Center administrative policies and procedures.
- Supervises all Health Center nursing, EMT, and administrative staff, including scheduling, hiring, professional development, performance management, and performance reviews.
- Manages the Health Center budget.
- Develops, coordinates, delivers, and promotes student oriented campus-wide prevention and educational programs in the area of health maintenance and wellness.
- Collaborates with the Office of Health and Wellness Education to distribute written health education prevention materials and brochures required for College compliance with Drug Free Schools and Campus Act, and other state and federal laws as they relate to the student population.
- Provides resources and support to the Office of Health and Wellness Education for writing the Drug Free Schools biennial review for the student affairs division.
- Conducts institutional research relating to health and wellness.
- Consults interdepartmentally with various offices on campus, such as Residential Life to develop and implement department and interdepartmental-based wellness programs.
- Ensures that all necessary staff certifications are current and documented; including licensing and CME / educational requirements.
- In conjunction with Director, provides presence and emergency support for staff during patient crises.
- Collaborates with the Director of Health Center and the Director of Sports Medicine to ensure students receive comprehensive, well-coordinated care.
- Collaborates with Director of Health Center to serve as a resource and liaison between the Health Center staff and other College administrative offices, Porter Hospital and other external healthcare agencies.
- Oversees the Exceptional Medical Needs Fund program for students with financial need and uninsured medical costs. Collaborates with and chairs the oversight committee for this program and administers its budget.
- Oversees the purchasing of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.
- In conjunction with the Director, collaborates with the Center for Counseling & Human Relations and the Counseling Service of Addison County to coordinate the management of students with acute psychiatric need.
- Represents the Health Center in Residential Life division meetings.
- Represents the Health Center in on the Sexual Assault Oversight Committee
- Monitors, maintains and ensures Health Center compliance with federal regulatory programs related to medical facilities including CLIA Laboratory standards and OSHA guidelines. Ensures that all necessary facility certifications are current and documented.
- Collaborates with students and families with special medical needs to assure appropriate care.
- Acts as a resource for the student health insurance program to students, families and Commons deans and staff.
- Reviews Emergency Room reports for all students evaluated at Porter Hospital, forwarding to the Director as appropriate. Coordinates continued care as needed.
- Plans, schedules and coordinates staff meetings and inservice training sessions.
- Provides direct clinical care to students as a nurse or nurse practitioner, in accordance with level of training and licensure. Provides this service on a part-time, as-needed basis at the direction of the Director.
- Researches medical issues, assists in development of medical policy and protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
