*Provides emergency care to students on a walk-in basis.
*Assesses the physical and psychological health needs of students using interview and observation skills.
*Treats students according to standing orders for acute and chronic illness.
*Collaborates with MD and NP, College counseling staff and area health care providers in offering students comprehensive services.
*Administers medications fully knowing their action, dosage and possible side effects.
*Performs laboratory tests and interprets results; documents all relevant information into students' health record.
*Educates and counsels students on a variety of health care issues.
*Protects confidentiality of students' records.
*Uses specialized knowledge of anatomy and physiology, HIV disease, sexually transmitted diseases, travel immunizations, alcohol and drug abuse, contraception and psychological emergencies in evaluation and treatment.
*Responds to all questions and concerns of student's family and the College community, with student's permission.
Serves as liaison to the campus and community on health issues.
*Refers students with specialized needs, as needed.
Provides orientatation to new personnel.
*Responds on short notice to cover staffing shortage to ensure nursing coverage.
Shares emergency night-time call at director's request.
