Primary Purpose

Responsible for assessment and design of HR service models, HR business process automation and improvement, and HR information system management for Middlebury College and its constituencies. As a member of the HR Management Team provides strategic HR leadership in broader service areas.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

In conjunction with the other HR Management Team members and the AVP of Human Resources/Organization Development provides strategic leadership regarding broad HR topics and direction and services.

Assessment and Design of Service Models

  • Examine appropriateness of service levels for constituencies beyond undergraduate college.
  • Work collaboratively with HR department to recommend appropriate services.
  • Liaison with other departments to ensure that decentralized work is appropriate and conducted in compliance with appropriate standards.
  • Develop a standard HR Service assessment tool for the administration to use during due diligence to fully understand the status of new entities and position the HR department to accommodate their needs.
  • Define employment relationship options for new entities.

HR Process Automation and Improvement

  • Utilize scanning technology to support multi-site operations.
  • Assess usefulness of technology to streamline and automate complex processes.
  • Facilitate efficient department operations with project support and process improvement.
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of HR operational documentation.

HRIS

  • Provide oversight of the HRIS Anyalst and Coordinators and HRIS functions identified below:
  • Maintain Banner HRIS (upgrades, security, and table maintenance).
  • Lead Banner enhancement projects to support HR operations.
  • Ensure data integrity through standardized reporting, feedback, training, and documentation.
  • Meet reporting needs of HR through training on running published reports, providing ad hoc reporting, and facilitate development of complex reports with LIS.
  • Run and submit standard and periodic reports as requested (Catamount Health, VUI).
  • Manage data input.
  • Banner HR training.
  • Liaison with payroll and budget on banner process issues.
  • Liaison with finance and ISSS on Language School I-9 and w-4 entry, support interface with Windstar.
  • Support time entry process.
  • Support campus-wide HRIS interfaces ( on-line & print directory, Public Safety, finance, budget).

Education & Training

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.

Experience

8-10 years of experience in broad range of Human Resources disciplines experience with HRIS required. Certification as Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Knowledge

Thorough functional knowledge of all HR areas and business process improvement techniques.

Other

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Must handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
