Primary Purpose

Develops and coordinates communications initiatives for the Office of Human Resources in order to provide accuracy and consistency in both internal and external departmental documents. Provides administrative support to the department.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

*Responsible for publication of staff and faculty newsletter, Midd Points, from concept to publication, including planning content and generating story ideas, writing and editing. Coordinates features articles with freelance writer and photographer. Ensures newsletter is printed and distributed in a timely manner. Oversees the Midd Points budget.


 


*Coordinates/Maintains campus-wide HR communications/publications calendar.


 


*Oversees departmental documentation on procedures and practices.


 


*Provides support to department regarding internal and external communications in the area of tone, content and themes.


 


*Provides general office coordination and administrative support to various HR functions as requested.


 


*Coordinates recruitment and hiring of high school students on campus including attending local career fairs and assisting hiring departments on proper procedures, and maintains data in Banner.


 


*Provides ergonomic analysis/training for faculty and staff; oversees ergonomics budget.


 


*Oversees departmental documentation on procedures and practices and provides assistance with coordination of Employee Handbook.


 


*Responds to any direct inquiries from staff to correct problems associated with Banner timekeeping process.


 


*Maintains/updates HR web pages.


*Provides backup to Employment Assistant on Career Opportunities Web posting.


 


Assist new employees in completing I9 and W4 forms and verifies credentials.

Education & Training

High school diploma or equivalent required.  Associate's degree preferred. 

Experience

3-5 years of experience in an office setting with emphasis on working with the public. Previous desktop publishing experience desired.. 

Knowledge

Knowledge of desktop publishing required. Word processing, spreadsheets and general computer proficiency required.

Other

Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced stressful environment required. Excellent organizational, technological and communication skills required. Must handle confidential matters with appropriate discretion. Must be able to work at a computer for several hours a day.
