Primary Purpose

Delivers a full range of Human Resources (HR) services to designated College departments.  Partners with management teams in designated areas to target HR services to aid in accomplishing operational goals.  Partners with and provides direct support to faculty and staff with matters related to employment.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

* Implements HR strategies and programs in designated departments.  Informs HR initiatives utilizing information about constituent areas.

* Provides direct HR support to supervisors, managers and employees.

* Functions as HR consultant to management teams in departments served.

* Provides coaching and professional development training to staff and supervisors.

* Provides support to management in matters related to staffing (including optimal organizational structure, job description, and work-flow analysis and improvement); recruitment and selection; performance management; employee relations; and compensation and benefits.

* Assists with policy development.

* Provides training and communication for new policies and on-going compliance.

* Serves as the liaison for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disability, and Workers compensation programs,

* Provides explanation and interpretation of Middlebury College policies and procedures and state and federal employment laws as they apply to the College.  Ensures compliance.

Facilitates mediation for conflict management and problem-solving dialogues.

* Assists in the determination of staff development programming needs.  Assists in program development and delivery.

Ensures proformance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner.  Assists in the coordination of the performance evaluation process with the administration of the College's wage and salary program.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to assist the department in achieving and maintaining its mission.

Education & Training

Bachelor's degree.  PHR/SPHR strongly recommended.

Experience

5 - 8 years experience as a Human Resources Generalist.

Knowledge

Knowledge of state and federal employment laws. Computer proficiency necessary.

Must handle confidential information in a discreet manner. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
