Primary Purpose |
To support the leadership of the Vice President for Institutional Planning and Diversity.
|
Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
Ensure a formal two-way communication link between the Office for Institutional Planning and Diversity and all offices of the division.
Coordinate and oversee Middlebury Dissertation Fellowship Program (in partnership with Northeast Consortium for Faculty Diversity) with Dean of teh Faculty office (recruitment, selection, training, etc.) and the Vice President for Institutional Planning and Diversity.
Assist Vice President for Institutional Planning and Diversity with logistics and execution of projects related to the ongoing faculty working group on diversity initiatives at the College.
Work closely with VP and Academic Affairs on the development of the new center for the study on race and ethnicity (Carr Hall). Assist in developing and running center in its start-up stage during the first two years.
Collaborate with the Dean of the College to ensure strong relationship and solid communication between both divisions. Specifically work with studen life offices to develop appropriate cultural/diversity programming for all students/staff, increase retention and support for non-traditional students in need. Support VP in her work with associate dean of the college (liaison to OIPD) in diversity-oriented projects between both divisions and across the College.
Collaborate with the VP and Director of Institutional Research to coordinate institutional planning and the 2010 Middlebury College reaccreditation.
Liaison, in collaboration with the VP, for division-wide information for reports, publications, operational projects.
Compose and prepare written correspondence for the VP and on behalf of her office.
Screen and evaluate incoming and outgoing correspondence and prepare responses as appropriate.
Maintain calendar, files, and phone messages for VP.
Hire, train, and supervise student employees and/or interns as needed.
Work closely with the President's office and members of the President's staff to maintain calendar, agendas, files, and documents related to VP's work with the President's cabinet.
Provide administrative support, budget management, and project management for the VP.
Arrange travel and agenda logistics for the VP.
Assist in the management and coordination of salary projections and recommendations for the division.
Handle administrative decisions on behalf of the VP as appropriate.
Ensure a welcoming environment in OIPD for all students, faculty, staff, and special guests.

Education & Training |
|
Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
|
Experience |
|
5-7 years working with academic administration required. Supervisory experience preferred.
|
Knowledge |
|
Experience and proficiency with MS Office applications. Experience and proficiency with Banner Finance and Hyperion reporting tool. Significant knowledge of College structures important.

Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must have ability to work independently and have demonstrated problem-solving skills. Must be detail oriented and be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
