Language Schools Administration:
Prioritizes correspondence and drafts responses where appropriate; serves as school abroad liason; coordinates travel for VPL/DLS; provides research as needed for speeches, reports, etc.; performs administrative tasks such as recording minutes; coordinates and maintains records of some language school grants and grant reporting; deals with daily office routine and administrative matters; supervises activities of student assistant(s); coordinates evaluator and/or VIP visits.
Coordinates annual August commencement exercises, school-wide social events, the annual meeting of Language School Directors (held in January) and occasional Honorary Degree ceremonies.
Acts as liason for Language Schools with the Development, Grants, Public Information Offices and College radio station (summer) for administrative matters.
Responsible for organizing Middlebury presence and attending regional conferences such as the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
Drafts and follows through on production of Language Schools Newsletter and summer edition of "This Week at Middlebury."
Graduate Alumni Affairs:
Oversees general alumni giving to LS, BLSE and WC; helps VPEA to identify major prospects and develop solicitation plans.
Coordinates with Development and Directors of 3 programs the gift receipting and acknowledging for LS, BLSE and WC.
Attempts to locate lost alumni and clean database, with emphasis on potential prospects and those with careers relating to college objectives.
With CA, develops cost-effective ways to create and maintain better methods of identifying and keeping in touch with alumni.
In consultation with DLS and VPL, determines content and format of LS Newsletter.
Oversees collection and editing with College Editor, handles printing and mailing arrangements. Develops development component.
Sits on Alumni Board as graduate alumni chair, coordinates alumni activities with MCAB, participates in committee work where indicated.
With directors of LS, BLSE and WC, determines ways in which alumni can be more involved with College.
Functions as liason with Public Affairs and College Advancement to see that events are communicated internally and externally.
Coordinates with Admissions Office a program to identify alumni/teachers in secondary schools and create a program to support them as in-school recruiters (originally The Partnership).
