Primary Purpose |

The Senior Technology Strategist monitors and evaluates the institution's technology services, in order to identify opportunities and develop strategies for improving overall quality, security and reliability. Through careful analysis, exploration, and consideration of the overall goals and objectives of the institution, the Senior Technology Strategist identifies potential technology-related efficiency gains, enhancements and cost savings for the institution.
The work of the Senior Technology Strategist informs the strategic planning process of LIS and the College by assessing and understanding the overall objectives and technological challenges of the College’s administrative and academic divisions, and by providing insight into industry-driven technology changes that have the potential to impact the institution. This position promotes collaborative, cross-functional working relationships between other areas of the College and LIS, with a focus on aligning technology strategies to meet the overall goals and objectives of the institution.
The Senior Technology Strategist places the institution's technology services in a strategic context and then considers, proposes, and participates in improvement efforts, including the evaluation, establishment, security, and management of remotely hosted services and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Implements, maintains, and utilizes analytical tools to monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of the institution's technology services, (past/present/future).

Assists in the establishment and maintenance of a resilient and secure infrastructure

Manages College-registered domain names, DNS, SSL certificates, and Firewall rules.

Contributes to projects by:
- Evaluating processes, systems, and vendor-delivered technology services for strengths and weaknesses.
- Advising on the optimization and improvement of the institution's existing technology services and security posture.
- Identifying key technical requirements and potential challenges for new technology projects.
- Reviewing project specifications, project implementation plans, and service contracts for vendor-provided external services.
- Identifying, monitoring, and analyzing Key Performance Indicators and post-launch metrics.

Monitors, evaluates, and reports on current and emerging technology trends, to help guide the planning and execution of technology initiatives.

Participates in the research, selection, and management of vendor relationships to ensure high-quality and secure deliverables for outsourced technology services.

Develops and maintains positive and collaborative relationships at institutional, divisional and departmental levels, sharing research findings and best practices with key stakeholders.

Works cooperatively and collaboratively with others and accepts direction from leadership.

Education & Training |
|
Bachelor’s degree in IT Management or Computer Science plus 10 years experience, or equivalent direct experience with;

Experience managing online services, technology projects, and technology project teams.

Experience with content management and broadcast messaging systems.

Experience in higher education desirable.
