Primary Purpose |

Directs and works with full-time and student employees of Student Mail Center to ensure all incoming mail and packages are delivered to faculty, staff, and students at Middlebury College.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- Provides customer service to meet the needs of faculty, staff and students.
- Sorts and distributes all incoming mail for students, faculty and staff.
- Logs and distributes all Express, Registered, Certified and Insured parcels.
- Distributes mass campus mailings as needed.
- Answers customer questions regarding proper procedures by phone or in person.
- Hires, trains and supervises mailroom workers.
- Approves and maintains hours worked by students and staff.
- Covers mail routes for absent student workers.
- Writes mail reports for Manager of Mailing Service.
- Ensures that mail is picked up and delivered daily.
- Forwards mail to former Middlebury College affiliates.
- Maintains a clean work space.
- Performs other related tasks as directed.
- Operates and trains personnel on Smart Track digital tracking system.

Education & Training |
|
High school diploma or equivalent required.
|
Experience |
- Supervisory experience helpful.
- Previous experience in mailroom helpful.
- Experience working in fast paced setting.
|
Knowledge |
- Must be customer service oriented.
- Must have knowledge of Postal regulations and requirements.
|
Other |
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 35 lbs. once a day. Must be able to push and pull up to 75 lbs. frequently. Requires long periods of time standing and occasional walking. Also requires frequent bending, twisting and reaching. May require overtime.
