Organizes the Burlington Office: acquires equipment, furnishings, phone, FAX and computer services; sets up a local area network of computers and peripherals; arranges for remote access to electronic communications systems; establishes and manages list-servs.
Manages official communication with the Institute's various constituencies: Foundation representatives, board of directors, advisory council; directors and staff of regional centers; representatives of participating colleges.
Manages Institute's master calendar, coordinating the activities of regional centers for maximum efficiency in the use of resources.
Develops content for Institute publications and web site; works with web developers to design, implement and maintain organizational information on the web.
Works with Middlebury CET systems staff or commercial ISP and systems/web hosting service providers to ensure an infrastructure adequate to support a national portal to programs, services, databases and other information of interest to liberal arts colleges whose Presidents are seeking to use technology effectively.
Develops and manages relational databases of media, material and information in support of Institute activities.
Coordinates meetings and conferences at the Burlington office and at other locations around the country (including travel and lodging arrangements as needed).
Provides coordination and communications assistance to the staffs of the regional centers as they translate existing programs into the multiple centers model, and as they develop regional program specializations for national deployment.
Because the Institute will come into existence gradually over the next year, the office manager should expect to spend a significant amount of time at the Middlebury CET, assisting with the development of programs and resources that will eventually, through the Institute, serve all the regional centers.
