Primary Purpose

Provides intellectual leadership to a national network of liberal arts colleges on emerging issues in instructional technology.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Maintaining current knowledge of emerging technologies and their present and potential uses in undergraduate teaching. Maintaining digital information resources on technology developments, policy issues, and related topics.

Identifying and learning about innovative IT projects on liberal-arts campuses and promoting awareness of them as examples.

Disseminating this knowledge throughout the NITLE community via web and print publications and through presentations at conferences and events. Collaborating with NITLE’s Communications Coordinator to educate the NITLE community about emerging technologies.

Advising NITLE and its advisory committees, both regional and national, as to areas for future program development.

Assisting in the development of NITLE programs through the identification, cultivation and recommendation of speakers, presenters and facilitators, the review and recommendation of print and digital program materials, and the like.

Teaching specific skills, tools, or subject areas in workshops, seminars, or other NITLE programs as appropriate.

Representing NITLE externally through web and print publication and presentations at conferences and events. Developing network of external relationships with leaders in instructional technology fields.

Providing consultancy/advisory services to NITLE participating colleges on emerging technology issues.

Education & Training

PhD in a liberal arts field.

Experience

3 – 5 years teaching or administrative experience in higher education, with experience in a liberal arts setting. Demonstrated knowledge of digital technologies and their uses in undergraduate education. Experience in collaborative, consortial, or inter-institutional projects. Outstanding communication skills in both speech and writing.

Knowledge

Extensive knowledge of pedagogy and digital technologies and the ability to work at the intersection of those fields.  Practical experience with a wide variety of digital media and knowledge of the theory and practice of "digital cultures."  Strong written and oral communication skills and strong commitment to collaboration, resource sharing, and building communities of practice. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
