Primary Purpose |
|
As part of a distributed team, a Chief Program Officer oversees collaborative projects and professional development programs in a specific content area for faculty, librarians, and IT staff from NITLE’s participating colleges.
Chief Program Officers report to the Director of Project Support Services and work closely with NITLE’s Technology, Communications, and Participant Relations Managers.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
Responsibilities include cultivating professional networks of faculty and staff, identifying and recruiting collaborators and program participants, planning and implementing collaborative programs, developing, deploying, and maintaining digital and other resources, maintaining information and knowledge about both standard and emerging technologies of importance to higher education, assessing the effectiveness of programs and projects, disseminating information about programs throughout the NITLE organization, and recommending possible areas for new program development.

Education & Training |
- Expertise in a field represented in NITLE’s programming agenda as demonstrated by an appropriate graduate degree or professional experience
|
Experience |
- 5+ year’s professional experience in higher education, educational programming, or instructional technology, with experience in liberal arts college settings strongly preferred
- Fluency with email, teleconferencing, videoconferencing, web-based collaboration environments, and other tools for remote collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience with the planning and execution of academic programs or collaborative projects

Knowledge |
- Strong knowledge of current information and instructional technologies relevant to the field of expertise
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the pedagogical values and organizational structures of liberal arts colleges
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, librarians, and IT staff
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and networking skills
- High level of attention to detail and follow-through, and the demonstrated ability to organize and maintain multiple priorities
- Ability and willingness to travel and to work extended hours
- Personal integrity, energy, flexibility, good judgment, creativity, and a sense of humor
- Fluency with standard office technologies and willingness to learn new applications when required
