Primary Purpose |
Responsible for the coordination (including advising, admissions, pre-departure, re-entry, and other administrative duties) of various C.V. Starr-Middlebury Schools Abroad including some of the following: China, France, Germany, Italy, Latin America, Middle East, Russia, Spain.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
Advises undergraduate and graduate students who wish to participate in C.V. Starr- Middlebury Schools Abroad, including advising regarding site selection, application process, financial aid, Middlebury policies, health and safety, cross-cultural adjustment, and other academic and non-academic issues.
Responds to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and study abroad advisors regarding Middlebury Schools Abroad.
Responds to students’ inquiries from abroad.
Manages FileMaker Pro and BANNER databases and students’ files for all students participating in Middlebury Schools Abroad.
Reviews all applications for undergraduate students to participate in Middlebury Schools Abroad.
Recommends admission decisions.
Organizes and leads Schools Abroad informational and pre-departure meetings.
Coordinates individual student’s applications to host universities, as necessary.
Daily communication with staff abroad concerning issues of past, current, and future students.
Provides information and support during the visa process; applies for visas as necessary.
Prepares and presents re-entry meetings or workshops in conjunction with other Off-Campus Study staff members.
Prepares, updates, and disseminates predeparture forms, on-line orientation, and program handbooks for undergraduate and graduate students.
Serves as liaison with academic departments and faculty with respect to program and course approvals.
Takes minutes at Schools Abroad Faculty Advisory Board meetings.
Reviews students’ evaluations of Middlebury Schools Abroad.
Performs site visits to the Schools Abroad and prepares site reports on each school visited.
Contributes to general office projects such as mailings and research projects.
Represents Middlebury at conferences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Depending on Schools overseen and areas of interest, other tasks may include:
Maintains the Schools Abroad websites; offers general web support.
Plans and executes 1 or 2 annual recruiting trips, including study abroad fairs, language conferences, student meetings, faculty meetings, and classroom presentations. Composes reports on each visit.
Coordinates incoming domestic and international exchange programs, including admission, registration, and orientation.

Education & Training |
|
Master’s degree required, preferably in the field of international education or higher education administration.
|
Experience |
|
2-5 years of post-graduate experience in international education preferred
|
Knowledge |
|
Strong language skills in one or more of the following: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish. Experience in studying/living abroad. Knowledge of field of international education. Computer skills (MS Word, Banner, FMP preferred).

Other |
|
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Enthusiasm for study abroad and language study in general, interest in internationalization. Ability to work with people of all ages and levels (students, parents,university officials, and colleagues). Ability to establish priorities and assimilate and convey large amounts of detailed information about study abroad programs, procedures, and requirements. Outgoing personality. Must be willing to take initiative and assume responsibility, but also work collaoratively as part of a team..
