Primary Purpose |
The Program Assistant assists Director, Associate Director, and Study Abroad Coordinators in the administration of the seven Middlebury Schools Abroad. Assists the Assistant Director in coordination of non-Middlebury programs and assists University Relations Coordinator in research of schools to be visited and preparation for trips.

Responsibilities |
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
Assists in the general operation of the Office of International Programs and Off-Campus Study.
Acts as first point of contact for students interested in studying abroad.
Acts as first point of contact for parents and faculty.
Answers phones, and provides initial reception of students to office.
Maintains Schools Abroad general web pages.
Hires and supervises student worker(s).
Coordinates for and serves as on-campus liaison for incoming exchange students including regular communication and advising regarding the application process, Middlebury policies, health and safety, arrival and orientation at Middlebury and other non-academic issues.
Coordinates and advises for domestic and J-term abroad programs.
Compiles weekly statistics for Schools Abroad.
Oversees inquiries and mailings of Schools Abroad view books.
Organizes annual Photo Contest for returning study abroad students.
Assists with the launch and maintenance of Abroad View website.
Assists with administrative tasks associated with the Middlebury Schools Abroad, non-Middlebury programs, and J-term programs abroad.
Contributes to office projects such as mailings, orientation and re-entry meetings, and research projects.
Enters study abroad applications into Banner and FMP database.
Provides follow-up for application material and predeparture forms.
Updates and prepares decision letters for domestic programs.
Assists with updates to Schools Abroad Handbooks.

Education & Training |
|
Bachelor's degree required.
Ideal position for a recent graduate or someone who is interested in the field of international education or wants to gain administrative experience in the international education field.

Experience |
|
Office experience/skills, including computer literacy, familiarity with MS Word and Filemaker Pro desirable.
Study abroad experience. Should have studied abroad for at least a semester as an undergraduate. Chinese, German, Italian, and/or Russian language skills a plus.

Knowledge |
- Knowledge and interest in higher education considered a plus.
