Primary Purpose

To lead and manage the President's efforts to create and sustain a plan for innovation at Middlebury College. To establish positive relationships with students, faculty, staff and alumni and parents in the areas of creativity and innovation. To provide strategic leadership for diverse programming in all areas of the campus.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Lead, manage, direct, and participate in innovation programs.

  • Provide strategic leadership for diverse programming that engages students, faculty, staff and alumni to advance the College and its priorities within the areas of innovation.

Plan and coordinate the identification, recruitment, training, communication, and recognition of innovative programs and people at Middlebury.

  • Proactively collaborate with the on-campus departments, including the Commons and Office of Student Affairs, the Alliance for Civic Engagement, the Career Services Office and College Advancement in order to enhance student participation and involvement in innovative programs and activities.
  • Develop, initiate, and assess innovative programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Training

Bachelor's degree and Advanced degree required.

Experience

Six to eight years of Director-level management in higher education. Experience solving problems and directing programs in the non-profit and private sectors.

Knowledge

Demonstrated leadership and success in motivating and directing new programs and participants. Superior communications skills required; knowledge of on-campus Middlebury programs strongly preferred.

Other

Must be able to work independently on multiple projects and handle confidential matters with appropriate discretion. Weekend work and travel required.
