Primary Purpose

Provides protection of Art Gallery, Art Gallery displays and of the College community members, all visitors and guests of the College.  Acts as general information person and promotes good public relations.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Maintains an alertness for suspicious activities. 


Monitors upper and/or lower Art Galleries either by foot patrol or by Security Desk surveillance. 


Maintains shift log of all activities and communications. 


Maintains a visitor guest log of all Art Gallery visitors. 


Secures Art Gallery and activates all intrusion alarms. 


Responds to all security alarms and fire alarms. 


Deals with and reports incidents as necessary. 


Provides informational assistance and promotes good public relations. 


Completes necessary reports and forms. 


Attends scheduled staff meetings and training sessions. 


Maintains radio communications with the Security Office and duty officers when necessary.

Education & Training

High school education.  Specialized and on-the-job training required.

Experience

Previous institutional security experience or law enforcement background desirable.  Public relations experience helpful.

Other

Valid driver's license.  Must be physically fit, agile, willing to work evenings and occasional long shifts.  Must handle confidential matters with appropriate discretion.  Must pass extensive background investigation.
