Primary Purpose

Manage the security operation in the Museum.  Provide supervision to the Museum Security Monitors.  Oversee the security alarm systems on campus.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.


*  Schedule museum monitor hours, approve vacations, and approve Banner Time sheets.


*  Manages direct reports.  Provides supervision for all staff as necessary and provides other supervisors with information for performance evaluations as necessary.


*  Oversees the control security key assignments for museum personnel.


*  Oversees the security alarm system and the fire alarm monitoring system - Silent Knight and Security Information System software (SIS).


*  Perform liaison duties between the Museum of Art and Department of Public Safety.


*  Oversees the training of museum and public safety personnel in the use of museum security systems.


*  Oversees the training of the department procedures and emergency protocols for the security and fire alarm systems.


*  Prepare parking rules, maps and signage for academic year and language schools.


*  Manage the storage and dispersal of found bikes.


*  Participate in the hiring process - review applications, conduct interviews, provide recommendations for hiring Museum Monitors and Telecommunicators.


Perform liaison duties between Public Safety and other college departments planning events such as Commencement, Winter Carnival, Reunion, the Welcome Center, and Museum events. 


Participates in the planning and installation of security alarm, surveillance and distress systems.

Education & Training

Post secondary education required.  Equivalent training and experience required.  Specialized and on-the-job training required.

Experience

Previous institutional security background desirable.  Previous administrative and/or supervisory experience.

Knowledge

Knowledge of alarm systems.  Previous experience with Silent Knight and Security Information Systems desired.

Other

Must be willing to work occasional long shifts.  Must be able to deal with personnel issues and confidential information tactfully and with discretion.  Must pass an extensive background investigation.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
