Primary Purpose

Provides part-time administrative and secretarial services for the Department of Public Safety. 

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

 


*  Provides liaison and administrative support through the following:  researches data and information in preparation for meetings, prepares agendas, prepares presentations, reservers rooms for training and meetings,  takes minutes, initiates and prepares correspondence.


 


*  Provides administrative support and secretarial support for the Director of Public Safety, the Assistant Directors of Public Safety and other department managers.


 


*  Maintains and creates web pages for the Department of Public Safety.


 


*  Maintains and creates the public log to be sent to the campus newspaper and ready for public viewing at DPS and on the department web page.


 


*  Maintains and creates department forms for information, appeals, documentation. Order forms.


 


* Works with the Telecommunications Manager/Technical Support Specialist in the design, implementation and training of department specific software programs.


 


* Help evaluate software, draft software proposals and manage installations.


 


* Attends departmental meeting


 


* Assists with scheduling and organizing meetings for department managers


 


* Help assign work and computer access permissions


 


* Coordinate special projects (databases, manuals, events and presentations)


 


* Assist the directors and managers in long-range planning for the department.


 


Assists the Telecommunicators and the Assistant Director in recording and tracking habitual parking offenders and maintaining the current parking boot list.


 

Education & Training

High school diploma required.  Associate's degree preferred.

Experience

1-3 years secretarial/administrative experience required.

Knowledge

Excellent computer skills a must, including knowledge of Word and Excel.  Familiarity with the Banner, MS Access and database operations perferred.

Other

Excellent organizational, interpersonnel and communication skills.  Experience in a busy academic setting preferred.
