Primary Purpose

Ensure integrity of student data that supports quality student services. Promote and support staff, students, and faculty use of the Banner student information system by supporting student enrollment, registration, and records activities among all schools with time-sensitive technical support, set up, and student data needs. Serve as liaison between functional users of student records data and information technology staff as needed.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

§ Data Integrity and Efficient Operations -- Support the Banner Student Record System and its integrated data in support of the following office operations: Registrar’s Office, Office of Off-Campus Study, Language Schools, Bread Loaf School of English, Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, Student Financial Services, Admissions, Housing, and Athletics. Participate on the Enrollment committee in support of these enrollment services.

§ Coordinate the timing of data-driven events with regard to student record and course-related data needs, with offices noted above, when accurately defining and conducting ‘Beginning of Term’ and ‘End of Term’ Banner processes. This pertains to setting up registration, housing rate codes, and fee assessment as well as rolling term data for catalog and schedule course information, and posting final grades and awarded degrees for each term and school.

§ Documentation and Training – document processes and use of Banner Student database and Web Services, and provide training for staff, faculty, and new students.

§ Update the Web information pertaining to BannerWeb registration procedures as well as Banner Student and Faculty Self-Service product information text (Web Tailor) as informational needs change throughout the academic year, e.g., web registrations and grade posting functions each term.

§ Technical System Leadership & Support - Serve as data specialist for functional user questions and lead the Student Module Implementation Team in discussions pertaining to data concerns among schools and preparations for Banner upgrades and Banner conversions. Participate in Leads meetings and Data Integrity Group.

§ Assess and prioritize new processes and external data requests involving student information and outline programming requirements as needed. Communicate technical and reporting needs to the Student Technical Team and facilitate completion of projects by testing and refining specifications, as needed.

§ Web Registration point person for database support within Registrar’s Office (RO) and between RO and LIS.

Education & Training

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

Excellent database management skills, experience in higher education or Registrar’s Office preferred. Experience with Web development desirable.

Knowledge

Banner expertise preferred. Must be proficient with database reporting programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Other

Excellent collaborative, communication, and teaching skills essential. Ability to multi-task.
