Primary Purpose

· Coordinate operations associated with the maintenance of academic records and registration for undergraduate students.

· Track seniors for completion of degree requirements and graduation.

· Interpret College academic policies with a human touch, with emphasis on service, accuracy, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

· Track Bachelor of Arts candidates for completion of degree requirements, order diplomas, and prepare graduation lists for Feb and May ceremonies. Provide diploma replacements, certifications of degrees, and diploma translations for alumni.

· Interpret academic policies outlined in the College Handbook to students, parents, staff and faculty as needed, ensuring privacy as required by federal law and College policy. Participate as non-voting member in Administration Committee proceedings.

· Maintain updated student enrollment status records through communication with commons deans and bursar; adjusting fee assessments as appropriate. Track student academic probation and failure in consultation with commons deans.

· Prepare and submit IPEDS reports on Graduation Rates, Completions and Fall Enrollments. Track undergraduate enrollments and participate in Enrollment Committee meetings.

· Supervise Assistant Registrar for Undergraduate Operations and assist with processes for registrations, grades and transcripts as needed.

· Act as Veterans Affairs certifying official for undergraduate students

· Update Registrar web pages and forms as needed

· Back up staff who process Advanced Placement credit or others as needed

Education & Training

Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred

Experience

5 + years Registrar’s Office experience required

Knowledge

Knowledge of Middlebury College academic policy and procedures

Advanced skills in word processing, spreadsheets, email

Experience with college database management (Banner) programming

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Work well with multiple constituencies
