Primary Purpose

Supervises, trains and schedules professional and volunteer ski patrollers. Provides safety and lift evacuation training to Snow Bowl staff. Provides medical treatment to injured guests.

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Supervises, trains and schedules professional and volunteer ski patrollers.


Recommends and hires ski patrol staff.


Evaluates performance, counsels patrol staff.


Aids in the instructuin and training of ski patrollers in the National Ski Patrol's advanced first aid course.


Organizes and aids in staff CPR training.


Instructs, trains and leads staff and ski patrollers in chair lift evacuation procedures and protocols.


Sits on District 7 ambulance squad's Board as president and training officer of the Middlebury College Snow Bowl Ski Patrol First Response.


Maintains a professional relationship with local doctors and the ER staff at Porter Medical Center.


Provides medical treatment to injured skiers and other non skiing related injuries that occur at the Bowl and Rikert Ski Touring Center.


Assists Rikert Touring Center in their first aid training needs.


Ensures that first aid supplies and equipment are maintained and available.


Ensures that all guest using designated trails are safely down at closing time.


Sees that Bowl's "Ski Patrol Procedures" are understood and adhered to.

Education & Training

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and wilderness EMT(WEMT) certified.


National Ski Patrol's "Outdoor Emergency Care" advanced first aid course required.


Continuing education in the medical field.

Experience

Advanced skiing ability and previous ski patrol experience recommended.  Prior supervisory experience.

Knowledge

Maintain advance first aid skills and knowledge.

EMT level of training required.

Other

Ability to communicate and relate to the public.  Initiative and ability to motivate others.
