Primary Purpose

Counsels financial aid applicants and families on application procedures; collects and assesses information submitted; provides administrative support for Financial Aid program.


 

Responsibilities

Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

* Must be able to work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors.


* Examines financial aid applications, and personal, corporate, and partnership tax returns to determine if we have the complete details of each family's financial situation necessary to make an aid decision. Requests clarification and/or additional information as necessary.


* Responds to inquiries regarding financial aid application procedures.


* Counsels applicants and their families on the financial aid process, requirements, and deadlines.


* Tracks acceptance letters for Language Schools, Bread Loaf School of English, and undergraduate populations.


* Verifies selected aid recipients' information for accuracy, according to federal regulations.


* Performs daily functions for off-campus work study program: includes agency and student contact and tracking spending records.


* Manages data entry and resolves problems with the Pell Grant program under direction from the Assistant Director.


* Assists Operations Manager in daily maintenance of BANNER module.


* Responds to all general inquiries made via email regarding the application process.


* Maintains and updates Financial Aid website.


* Manages office supply inventory and maintains department calendar.


* Prepares and routes all financial aid vouchers and purchase orders.


* Provides backup to Administrative Assitant in running, distributing, and mailing daily reports and letters.


* Provides backup to the Administrative Assistant by entering Language School and Bread Loaf data during peak period (January and February).


* Performs additional duties as necessary to meet the needs of the financial aid programs at the College.


 

Education & Training

Associate's degree or some college preferred.

Experience

One year of experience in an academic setting with general computer experience preferred.

Knowledge

Ability to use and/or learn to use computer software. SCT BANNER experience preferred. Knowledge of federal tax system and forms helpful.

Other

Must have ability to mainain high level of customer service orientation in fast-paced environment. Must have ability to manage many competing tasks successfully. Able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
