Holly Hertberg '93 wins 2005 Fiction Contest

Middlebury Magazineis pleased to announce the winner of the third annual Fiction Contest. For 2005, the winning entry is "The Girl in the Hat" by Holly Hertberg '93.

 

Holly is an assistant professor at the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia, where she has served as co-director of Uva's nationally recognized Young Writers Program..

 

In addition to the winning entry, which appears in the Summer 2005 issue, an additional story—"A Man's Lesson" by MaryJane Bancroft, French '86—was chosen as a runner-up.

Both stories will be published online, along with comments from Sue Halpern, this year's Fiction Contest judge.
