Summaries of Task Force Reports

Just before Middlebury's Commencement Weekend, 15 planning task forces and planning committees submitted their findings and recommendations to the Planning Steering Committee. These reports, with appendices and supporting materials, total more than 400 pages. We invited the task forces to include a two-page "executive summary" with their reports, and we are making these summaries available through our planning web page to all constituencies in the Middlebury College family. See the links to the summaries, below.

Steering Committee members are now busy reading these reports, and we are engaging a dazzling array of background information, imaginative ideas, and thoughtful proposals. We view the Task Force reports as being vitally important raw material for the planning process, while we recognize that the Steering Committee must work with President Liebowitz and his administration to set priorities and make choices based on the available financial and human resources. We are fortunate to have the privilege of being able to make these choices, and we approach both our work, and the College's future, with a deep sense of optimism. We hope to complete the initial phase of developing an integrated plan by early September.
