• When do I have to be out of my room? 
    At the end of fall and spring terms, students must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after their last exam. More information can be found at: http://www.middlebury.edu/campuslife/commons/housing/endofyear.htm#1
  • What should I do with my Key(s)? 
    Dorm Room Keys must be turned in to Public Safety.  All other keys not issued at the welcome center or at Public Safety should be returned to the appropriate department.  
  • How do I return my key?
    At the end of spring term a key drop off box will be placed at each of the common offices. You can return the keys there or to Public Safety. Envelopes will be provided. 
  • Will receipts be available for my key?
    Electronic receipts will be e-mailed to your Middlebury e-mail account within 2 weeks of returning your key.  This receipt has a unique number and will serve as proof that you have returned your key.
  • I’ve taken my key home/forgot to return it, what do I do?  Keys are required to be returned to public safety within 3 calendar days of the end of your housing assignment.  Public safety recommends sending your key by FedEx or UPS Next day services and highly discourages USPS mail as keys rarely make it to public safety.
  • Can I leave my key with Middlebury Transit or a Taxi service?  NO, for liability and security reasons both Jessica’s Taxi service and Middlebury Transit have been instructed not to accept keys however Jessica’s may be able to transport you to public safety.  On busy move-out days, Middlebury Transit will be unable to stop at public safety.
  • I have questions about my key(s), who should I Contact?  E-mail keyadmin@middlebury.edu with any questions you may have concerning your room keys.
  • What is the cost for lost/stolen keys?
    Currently the charge for a lost or stolen room key is $50/key and $50 for the lock change.  I.e., if both a room key and a lock out key are not returned, the total charge would be $150
  • What is the cost for late returned keys?
    A late returned key is $50/key if it is received before the lock change has been completed.  An additional $50 will be charged once the lock change has been performed.
