Round One Tips: The intention of Round One is to test the entire Registration system from the student's perspective, as well as from the faculty and staff perspective, before we are in real-time registration. During "Round One-Check Your Registration Status", students can mock register a week in advance of the official, real-time registration to do the following:
1. Familiarize yourself with the BannerWeb registration system and the many menu options to choose from, if you are new to the system.
2. Verify your registration credit-based class standing ("Check your Registration Status" link for the coming term).
3. Find out what day your credit-based registration window opens (see link noted above).
4. Check to see if you were assigned an Alternate PIN for the coming registration term based on the number of credits you have earned and in progress. That is, student who have earned less than 21 credits by the end of the current term are assigned an Alternate PIN which will be required when entering the registration screen on BannerWeb during the official, real-time web registration period. Also, students who have earned 21 or more credit but have not declared a major are also assigned an Alternate PIN. Alternate PINs are not required to enter the Round One-Check your Status registration or the Winter Term registration!
5. View your online academic history (see Transcript link).
6. Search for courses that meet certain criteria such as PE, College Writing (CW), DED, AAL, etc. (see Look Up Classes to Add link).
7. Try to register for the courses you are interested in, to see if you need to request overrides or approvals from the faculty. (submit course choices (CRNs) on the "Register Add/Drop Courses" link for the "Round One-Check Status" Term opened the week before real-time, official registration period begins).
8. Make sure you are aware of all required components of a course. One course might include a lecture section, a discussion section, and a screening or a lab. Multiple components of a course are linked in Banner. Banner will not allow you to register for just one section of a course with multiple components: it will give you a Link Error and tell you what section is required. Use the online Help to determine what the link codes mean.
9. Check time conflicts for the course sections for which you intend to register. (Time Conflict errors will appear when you register for any type of course that overlaps in anyway, even the start and end time.)
10. See a visual layout of your practice schedule of courses for which you intend to register during your actual registration window. (see Student Schedule links)
