Commencement Transitional Period

Information regarding employment and housing from the day after exams ends to the day Language School begins must be completed on the Summer Employment and Housing Contract. Even if a student is only working through Commencement, a contract must be completed and sent to the Student Employment Office. This is very important for the students’ housing.

Undergraduate student employees who are on campus during commencement activities and not directly involved with commencement are to take their meals at Atwater at the posted hours.  Commencement activities are for graduates and their families.

Living off campus

Summer student employees living off-campus should also submit a Summer Contract and may participate in the meal plan. Students that do not sign up for the meal plan and eat in the designated dining hall for student employees, will be charged on a meal-to-meal basis; $6 breakfast, $11 lunch, $16 dinner. If a student chooses to live off campus for the summer, they may not return to on campus housing until September 6, even with an approved job extension date.

Summer Research

All approved mentored faculty-student research positions will be paid on a stipend basis.  In order to pay a research student a stipend, the hiring faculty must complete a Summer Research Assistant Authorization (SRAA) form. This form confirms that the research meets the criteria outlined in the Policies and Procedures for Summer Research Assistants, and should be submitted to Pat Manley.
