UDALL FELLOWSHIPS
PURPOSE
The Morris K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation is authorized to award scholarships to undergraduate students who intend to pursue careers related to the environment.
AWARD
Scholarship covers eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $5,000. Recipients are eligible for one year of scholarship support. Scholars selected during their sophomore year may be renominated during the next year's competition.
NUMBER OFFERED
80 overall; Middlebury may nominate six candidates.
ELIGIBILITY
Students must be nominated by Middlebury College. The awards will be made on the basis of merit to two groups of students: 1) Those who are college sophomores or juniors in the current academic year, have outstanding potential, and intend to pursue careers in environmental public policy; and 2) Native American and Alaska Native students who are college sophomores or juniors in the current academic year, have outstanding potential, and intend to pursue careers in health care or tribal public policy.
Minimun of 3.0 GPA and be in top quarter of their class.
DEADLINES
- Preliminary application: Gemeral Scholarship Information form (available on Fellowships website), Banner Web Degree Progress Report, essay, and résumé to be submitted to Fellowship office: noon, January 18, 2010
- Nominees must obtain three letters of recommendation; discuss the selection with Prof. Klyza or Mrs. Wickland
- Complete application submitted to the Fellowship Office --- deadline 5 p.m. February 25, 2010
- Nominations must be received in the Udall office by March 2, 2010; they are sent by the Fellowship Office, not directly by the student.
- Udall Scholars will be announced April 6, 2010.
