Welcome to MiddTel Registration Information
Who: All active students can sign up for service. (Year-round faculty and staff do not need to sign up. Personal calls are automatically deducted from your paycheck.)
How: Pre-pay with a Visa or Mastercard credit card for long distance service at the MiddTel Registration page. Once you login, a TAC (Telephone Authorization Code) is created and displayed on the screen. Please note the TAC, since it is the only time you will see it. Upon payment, your TAC for placing long distance telephone calls is activated.
Cost: The U.S. telephone rate for is $.05 per minute any time. Check here for international call rates. No monthly service charge or taxes are billed.

Call details are available online only at MiddTel Sign In. No statements are issued.
Replenish Your Account
Replenish your account when you near depletion of funds to avoid deactivation of your TAC. Reminders are not issued, so periodically check your account balance.
Refunds
If you are about to leave the College and have excess funds in your account, you can request a credit card refund of the remaining amount in your MiddTel account by filling out the MiddTel refund request form. Requests for refunds must be made within six months after your departure. No refunds under $1.00 will be issued.
Credit Limit
Active accounts have a credit limit of $500.

MiddTel TAC (Telephone Authorization Code)
How do I receive my TAC? Will it be active right away?
After you register at the MiddTel registration page with your College ID and choose a password, the TAC is displayed on the screen. Please note the number. Once you sign up with your credit card, the system activates the TAC within approximately 5 minutes. To place a long distance call, dial 8 + TAC + # + 9 + telephone number. If the TAC is not working, please contact Telephone Services at extension 5700. The office is open Monday-Friday 8:15 a.m. -5:00 p.m. At other times, please leave a message, and we will return your call.
Does a student get a new TAC every year?
No, even if you leave at the end of the academic year with your MiddTel account inactive, your TAC will remain the same throughout your time at Middlebury. To reactivate your TAC, you only need to re-charge your account when you return.
What if a I lose or forget my TAC?
If you have written down your TAC and misplaced it, or believe someone else knows your the code and is using it without your permission, call Telephone Services at extension 5700. You will be issued a new TAC and the original code will be deactivated. If you gave permission to someone else to use your TAC, you are responsible for getting reimbursed from that person. Contact Telephone Services extension 5700 if you have forgotten your TAC.
What if the TAC does not work (I can make campus and local calls but not long distance calls)?
Has your account run out of funds? Login in to your account at MiddTel Sign In. Be sure the TAC is 7 digits long. Are you dialing 8 + 7-digit TAC + # + 9 before dialing the long distance number? If you still cannot use the TAC, call Telephone Services at extension 5700, and we will determine the problem.
