At Middlebury, the responsibility for administering internal and external research opportunities is shared by individuals and offices across the College. Below we have listed several of these offices and a brief description of the programs they oversee. Please note that these descriptions are not intended to reflect the primary focus of each of these offices.
Opportunities for Students and Faculty
Undergraduate Research Office
Oversees the Senior Work Fellowship, Senior Work Fund, and Spring Student Symposium, and supports the development and promotion of undergraduate student research.
Environmental Affairs Office
May provide funding for environmentally oriented student and faculty research.
Opportunities for Students Only
Rohatyn Center for International Affairs
Oversees International Research Travel Grants, RCFIA Fellowship, and Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellows Program.
Office of the Dean of the College
Oversees the Academic Conference Travel Fund and Tree House Fund.
Office of Student Fellowships and Scholarships
Oversees multiple external fellowships, scholarships, prizes and awards for undergraduate and postgraduate study and experiential research.
Alliance for Civic Engagement
Oversees internal and external funding opportunities for students interested in projects on civic engagement.
Office of Career Services
Oversees funding opportunities for students pursuing non-paying summer internships through the Ron H. Brown ’62 Fund, Felton Family Internship Fund, Louis J. Kutzner ’51 Internship Fund and Digel Family Internship Fund. Also oversees funded internship opportunities related to the environment and the arts.
