Common Application Information
The Common Application is the only application accepted for undergraduate admission to Middlebury College. You can access the Common App using the link on the right frame of this page. If you have problems with the Common App, please address these to the Common App organization via the Help Center on your Common App account. If you do not have an account or are having problems setting up your account, please check the Common App System Requirements link to the right. If you continue to have problems please use the Common App Help link on the right.
The Common App has implemented significant changes this year. Here are some important notes about Middlebury’s application:
Application Processing We will begin processing applications in late September. If you see a green check in the Application Column on the Common App Dashboard, your application has been submitted:
Writing Supplement Middlebury’s Writing Supplement is not required. We are using the Writing Supplement this year to accommodate features that were previously available in the main section of the Common App: the ability to write a short statement that is specific to Middlebury College and the ability to upload a document (a resume, for instance). There is no additional essay needed to complete your application to Middlebury College.
Arts Supplement As with the Writing Supplement above, the Arts Supplement is not required to complete your application to Middlebury College. Like many of our peers we are utilizing the new functionality available via SlideRoom. Please be aware that there is a $5 - $10 charge for each arts submission (candidates who are eligible for a fee waiver do not incur this charge). Here is how to access the Arts Supplement for Middlebury College:
In the Member Questions section, you must answer the question that begins “Do you intend to submit an art supplement…” in the affirmative.
If you have already submitted your application and did not answer this question, you can still submit an arts supplement by logging in to SlideRoom here: https://middlebury.slideroom.com/#/Login. If you used the same e-mail address for your SlideRoom and Common App accounts you will be prompted by SlideRoom for your Common App ID (located in the top-right corner of the Common App screen). If not, you can still submit the arts supplement (we will sync with your application later).
Once you have done this, click the My Colleges tab, and then Middlebury College in the left pane.
Click on “Art Supplement” in the left pane and the “Middlebury College Art Supplement Site” link will be shown in the main (center) section.
Fee Waiver If you indicated that you are eligible for a fee waiver on the Common App, your guidance counselor will get a Common App fee waiver request. Middlebury College will accept the fee waiver form from any organization including (but not limited to) the Common App, urban outreach organizations (Questbridge, etc.), or the form that is used by your high school’s counseling office. Once we begin processing applications in late September you will receive an application acknowledgement e-mail from Middlebury with login credentials for your Application Status page. Please check the Application Status page to confirm that your fee waiver has been processed.
If you are a home-schooled applicant you can indicate your parent as your guidance counselor. Your parent will receive a link from the Common App to submit the fee waiver request form.
School Officials: If you are having difficulty sending school forms for applicants via the Naviance system, please feel free to send these documents directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. We prefer to receive these via Naviance or e-mail, but if you feel it is necessary you can mail them to us at:
