Why did I want to be a Senior Fellow?

I remember how great and energetic the Senior Fellow was when I was visiting and she had a significant impact on my decision to choose Middlebury. I wanted to have that same impact on other prospective students.

What was my college search like?

I went on a big family road trip with the aim to visit 12 schools in a week.  I hit Middlebury third, looked at two after and decided to cut the trip short and start working on my early decision application for Middlebury.

Why Middlebury?

In my mind, there was nothing even close. I wanted to focus on languages, run division three track and participate in drama.  As well, I didn’t want to be in a city and wanted to live close to mountains.  I loved the dining hall food. My favorite color is blue. It was all too perfect.

What is life at Middlebury like?

Choosing a major

Easier said than done. I have switched from Spanish to Psychology to French to Spanish- French Joint to neither and finally back to Psychology. It hasn’t been the clearest of paths but I was able to work with three great advisors, broadly explore all three subjects and finally choose what felt right.

The biggest challenge in transitioning to college

I would say making time for down time.  There are so many awesome things to do, classes to take and people to meet that my first year at school included little down time alone which can really tire you out.

Fondest memory of Middlebury

Palmer House

Favorite class or professor

American History with Professor McWilliams. I took the class only to fulfill my last distribution requirement. From day one of Professor McWilliams’ class, my opinion on history dramatically transformed and I became a major Abraham Lincoln groupie.

What I do in my spare time

Being a senior, top priorities for spare time are being with friends and getting outside as much as possible.

What I did this past summer

I spent the first half of the summer finishing up classes in Buenos Aires’ “winter”.  I then spent the rest of my summer living in Middlebury and working as a consulting intern for a dairy farmer in Shoreham, VT. The only thing better than Middlebury during the school year is Middlebury in the summer.
