Take a guided tour of The Franklin Environmental Center at Hillcrest, Middlebury's greenest building to date which will be the first certified by the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The Franklin Environmental Center at Hillcrest has been transformed from student housing (did you live there??) and faculty offices into the most energy efficient building on campus, featuring innovative and environmentally advanced teaching and working spaces for students, faculty and staff.
Join Mark Gleason, Project Manager and son of Bob ’54 and Betsy ’58 Gleason, and Jack Byrne, Campus Sustainability Coordinator, for a tour of The Franklin Environmental Center at Hillcrest. The tour will feature energy efficiency and conservation innovations, use of certified wood from the College's forests, furniture crafted by local companies, reuse of the original structure’s historic flooring and roofing materials, and other sustainable design features.
