Bread Loaf is 1,500 feet above sea level, and fall evenings can be quite cool. Average temperatures are generally in the mid-70s during the day and mid-40s during the evenings. Although all accommodations are equipped with basic sheets, blankets, and towels, feel free to bring extra blankets for your personal comfort.
Cell Phone Coverage and Internet Access
There is very limited cell phone coverage at Bread Loaf. Phones that accept phone cards are also located in each of the cottages.The Internet can be accessed through computers located in the Davison Memorial Library.
Directions to Bread Loaf
The Bread Loaf campus is on VT Rte. 125 in Ripton, a five-minute drive east of the town center and 11 miles (a 20 to 25-minute drive) from Middlebury. Middlebury is about 40 miles south of the Burlington airport and 35 miles north of Rutland via U.S. Rte. 7.
Please Note: If you are using a GPS or an online map site like mapquest, use the address "College Cross Road." These entities do not recognize "Bread Loaf Campus," but College Cross Road will put you on Rte. 125 across from the Bread Loaf Inn.
No pets are allowed on the Bread Loaf campus.
Aside from the weekend’s schedule of organized events offered during Saturday’s afternoon downtime, you may also decide to hike or run one of Bread Loaf’s many trails, enjoy shopping in downtown Middlebury, or take a scenic drive in the nearby area.
Bread Loaf is a smoke-free campus. Vermont State Law prohibits smoking in any building on campus, including dormitories.

Transportation to and from the Bread Loaf Campus
The College does not provide transport between transportation hubs (i.e., airports, railroad depots, and bus stations) and Bread Loaf. Please contact Middlebury Transit at 802.388.3838 to schedule pick-up service or visit www.middleburytransit.com for more information.
