Pre-performance madrigal concert on the Theatre lawn
"Shakespeare's Measure for Measure is a strange comedy—broad, and dark, and dangerous," says director Alan MacVey. The story takes place in Vienna, where sexual morality appears to have fallen apart. Shakespeare explores issues of justice and mercy, judgment and license, by following the lives of Isabella, a young novice, her brother Claudio, and those who deal with them. Equity Actors joining the Bread Loaf Acting Ensemble this summer hail from New York City and Trinity Rep in Providence. Several students and three faculty members from the Bread Loaf community round out the cast. Tickets are free, but reservations are strongly suggested-- please call 802-443-2737.
