The Wedding Dress (Vestido De Noiva)
by Nelson Rodrigues
8:00 P.M. each evening and 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Wright Theatre
A middle-class young wife who has just been mortally injured in an auto accident hovers at the brink of life, as her mind snatches at memories both real and imagined. Dominating her delusions are two events: the bitter wedding-day argument with her vengeful sister over the affections of her husband-to-be, and the flamboyant life and murder of an infamous turn-of-the-century courtesan. Influenced by Freud, as well as Expressionism and Surrealism, Rodrigues's text hurtles toward its dénouement with the hallucinatory discombobulation of a nightmarish thriller. Directed by Claudio Medeiros '90. Sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Tickets: $5/4/3; on sale April 20.

This video is an exploration of some of the things one might have to photograph if one had failed to take at least one snapshot of someone very important before that person left. It is an exercise in futility because the person gone is gone forever, and the opportunity to say goodbye has already passed. What remains is the filmmaker, with his camera, struggling to find beauty in a landscape lacking someone special. For more information, contact dhoughto@middlebury.edu. Free
