Bluegrass Gospel Project

The Chaplain's Office presents a special benefit concert by the Bluegrass Gospel Project on Saturday, April 9 at 8:00 p.m. in Mead Chapel. The Project's sublime vocal harmonies and virtuoso musicianship have made this band a favorite in venues all over New England. Proceeds from the concert benefit Heifer Project international.

The Bluegrass Gospel Project is a made up of musicians from across northern New England, each with decades of performance experience on the stage. They reinvigorate classic Appalachian spiritual music while introducing plenty of original tunes as well. Their populist form of spiritual music is meant for all people and all faiths.

The beneficiary of this concert, Heifer Project International, is an organization founded in the 1940s which helps improve the health and economic prospects of people all over the world by giving poor families breeding pairs of animals. Part of Heifer's strategy is to "pass on the gift." As people share their animals' offspring with others—along with their knowledge, resources, and skills—an expanding network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe. Heifer's vision is for a world of communities to live together in peace and equitably share the resources of a healthy planet. Heifer has recently announced a tsunami rebuilding effort for areas affected by the recent disaster in South Asia, which builds on its long history of work in the region.

Tickets are $15 regular admission, $12 for Middlebury College faculty and staff, and $5 for Middlebury College students.
