On Saturday evening, April 16 at 8:00 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall, the Middlebury College Chamber Singers, directed by Jeff Rehbach, presents its annual spring Choral Potpourriconcert. Admission to the concert is free.
The program draws from the Chamber Singers repertoire of music from the Renaissance to the present, including English, Italian, and German madrigals; Renaissance sacred music by Weelkes and Tallis; music from the Romantic era and early 20th century by Bruckner and Rachmaninoff; and contemporary a cappella works by Frank Ticheli, Arvo Pärt, Eric Whitacre (his lush, harmonically complex Flower Songs), and Matthew Harris (his witty, often humorous, settings of Shakespeare songs).
Members of the Middlebury College community, especially students and their families, are warmly invited to the fifth annual Commencement Weekend Concertpresented by the Chamber Singers. Given in honor of the class of 2005, this free performance begins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening, May 20, in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall. The program features favorite pieces selected by seniors in the group. The Chamber Singers also participates in the Baccalaureate Services on Saturday, May 21.
