Joyce Driscoll '06, charcoal drawing

Large-format drawings from all four sections of Introduction to Studio Art I are on view from January 3–14 in the Johnson Memorial Building's Atrium and Pit Space. In these large drawings, students combine strategies and concepts that have been explored throughout the semester. The works represent the culmination of students' technical and conceptual achievement in this course. A variety of themes and subject matter are chosen by students, based on their own particular interests and skills: life-size self-portraits and multipanel narrative works based on mythology, history, religion, or other subjects. These works are executed with a single medium or a combination of media: chalk pastel, charcoal, conte crayon, pencil, and collage.
